Anxiety is your body’s natural alarm system—it’s the feeling you get when your brain thinks there might be danger or something important to prepare for. Everyone feels anxious sometimes, like before a test, job interview, or big event. In small doses, it can even help you stay alert and focused.
But when anxiety shows up too often, feels too strong, or sticks around even when nothing dangerous is happening, it can get in the way of daily life. It might feel like constant worry, restlessness, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or the sense that something bad is about to happen. In short, anxiety is your body trying to protect you—but sometimes it works too hard, and that’s when support and treatment can make a big difference.
ADHD is when your brain has trouble focusing, sitting still, or controlling impulses. People with ADHD might feel restless, get distracted easily, or struggle to finish tasks. It’s not laziness—it’s just the way their brain processes attention and energy.
Bipolar disorder causes extreme shifts in mood. People may experience “highs” (mania) with lots of energy, racing thoughts, or risky behavior, and “lows” (depression) with sadness, fatigue, or hopelessness. These mood swings are more intense than normal ups and downs.
Schizophrenia affects how a person thinks, feels, and perceives reality. It may include hearing or seeing things that aren’t there (hallucinations), holding unusual beliefs (delusions), or having trouble organizing thoughts. It can make everyday life challenging but can be managed with treatment.
OCD involves unwanted, repeated thoughts (obsessions) and the urge to do certain behaviors over and over (compulsions) to feel relief. For example, someone might wash their hands repeatedly or check things constantly. It’s not just being “neat” or “perfectionistic”—it’s a serious condition that can interfere with daily life.
Depression is more than feeling sad. It’s a persistent low mood that lasts weeks or months, often accompanied by low energy, loss of interest in things you normally enjoy, changes in sleep or appetite, and trouble concentrating. It’s like a heavy weight that makes everyday life harder.
